Yu Wang continued:

 

“English very difficult,” Yu Wang says with a smile.  “I older woman.  I forget.  Hear, speak difficult.” 

 

This difficulty has not stopped Yu Wang from building a schedule full of English lessons and classes at Twin Lakes Literacy Council in the past year. She attends a conversation class, a grammar class, pronunciation lessons and vocabulary tutoring.  She frequently studies English eight hours a day.   

 

 

Surrounded by new friends, Yu Wang’s English is improving rapidly. In the last year, her scores have improved 2.1 grade levels on standardized testing. Her latest accomplishment in English is passing the written driver’s test.  

 

“I like Mountain Home,” Yu Wang says.  “I like fresh sky, big trees, birds, friendship.” 

 

Yu Wang welcomes new ESL students and advocates tutoring to new immigrants to the Twin Lakes area.
