Our Staff

Executive Director & Program Coordinator: Heather Powell took this position in July of 2018. Heather is a US Army Veteran, holds a BA in Professional and Technical Writing from UALR, and is an AmeriCorps Alum. Heather's passion for service in her community began as a child, serving the underserved in Memphis, TN as she helped her mother in multiple areas. She continued by joining the US Army and serving a mission overseas. More recently, Heather served the Twin Lakes Literacy Council as an Americorps Volunteer, tutoring adults from 2011-2015. Heather left TLLC to become the Training Director for The Adult Learning Alliance in Little Rock, where she trained volunteer tutors across the state, and conducted training workshops in 15 of the AR Department of Corrections to train literate inmates to tutor those who cannot read. She brings an awareness of Adult Education needs in AR to her position with TLLC. She currently serves on a Joint Legislative Committee with other Literacy Council Directors in AR.
