Kelly continued:

Now a year and a half later, I’ve been working really hard using the Barton System.  I’m on Level 6.  I have moved up three or four grade levels in reading since I’ve been here.

While working on the Barton System, I learned I’m dyslexic.  It was made for people like me.  I’m so excited not to be afraid to read out loud or pick up a book to read.  My dreams of becoming a writer---I wouldn’t have thought it would be possible till now.

Don’t ever give up on your dreams.  Don’t let people tell you you’re dumb or bring you down.  It’s not true.  You just may have to learn a different way.

Kelly has graciously given her time and her story in support of TLLC.  This year, she has addressed several area groups, telling her vivid, heartwarmining story in hopes of encouraging other students to start lessons in the Barton Reading System.
